Orchestra Outfitters was founded with a simple purpose: to bring quality instruments and accessories to the businesses and professionals who serve the string music community.
Where It All Began
Our story began with the double bass.
Through years of hands-on experience working with musicians, educators, orchestras, and professional luthiers, founder Charles Winters recognized opportunities to improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of instruments available to the trade.
What started with double basses has since grown to include cellos, with each new addition reflecting the same commitment to craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and practical performance.
We started with basses. Then came cellos. We're excited to see what comes next.
What we carry
Our catalog is deliberately focused. We carry what serious string programs actually need — nothing more, nothing less.
Double Basses
Carved and laminate double basses in ¾ and ½ sizes. Spruce tops, maple back and sides, ebony fingerboards, adjustable bridges. Suitable for advancing students through professional orchestral use.
Cellos
Student outfits through professional-grade carved cellos in 4/4 and ¾. Flamed maple back and sides, ebony fittings, Despiau-style bridges on upper-tier instruments.
Accessories
Gig bags, hard cases, brazilwood and carbon fibre bows, rosin, and string sets. Everything a retailer needs to complete an outfit or restock a repair bench.
